Canon EOS shooting city training

Get intimate with your EOS camera

How well do you know your Canon EOS camera? Getting to grips with the basics of photography is one thing, but actually understanding how your camera works and what it’s capable of is another matter. That’s where the EOS Training Academy comes in – our team of lecturers know the EOS system inside out and guarantee that a day spent with them will unlock your camera’s full potential and give you the skills to improve your photography.

What makes EOS Training Academy unique?

  • Our four-strong team of tutors have all been trained at Canon

  • We're educators first, photographers second

  • You'll learn what your camera does, not how we shoot

  • Sharing of knowledge is unlimited

Whatever your level and experience, we have courses to suit you. If it’s your first EOS camera, we’ll get you started by explaining the basics and moving you off Full Auto mode. If you’re already comfortable with your camera and want to fine-tune your skills, then you’ll find some of the more challenging and creative courses right up your street.

Plus we have dedicated courses for the more advanced cameras, like the EOS 5D Mark IV, 7D Mark II and new EOS R-series full frame mirrorless cameras.

Our comprehensive programme of courses has been developed over the last ten years and is constantly evolving to meet the needs of photographers and the changes in DSLR and mirrorless camera development.

Your team of tutors

Canon Tutors group4

Brian Hall, Ian McNeill, Nina Bailey and Brian Worley (left to right, above) are all Canon EOS experts. Between them they have many decades of experience training people to use their Canon EOS cameras. They are all experienced teachers, and that's the passion that comes first for each of them.

The difference is clear – they're not professional photographers turning to teaching... their expertise lies with teaching you about your Canon camera and how to make it work to suit the way you shoot. By understanding how your camera works, you can get more from it – better images, better quality, and a higher success rate.

See our tutor profiles for more information.

When you come on a course, you will only ever be taught by one of our four Canon trained tutors. We don't use regional tutors to cover different areas. This means that you're guaranteed the same quality and course consistency, wherever you attend one of our training courses.

"What a great day. Joining instructions and pre read study materials were clear and appropriate. The knowledge of the instructor of the subject was amazing and he never once hinted that he thought any of our questions were daft or inappropriate. I can highly recommend this seminar to anybody wishing to learn more about their camera and its settings and shortcuts."

Chris Knight, July 2019

"Nina is an excellent tutor and the course easily met my expectations. I learned so much about my camera (an EOS 7D Mk II) that made very little sense when I have gone through the owner’s handbook. I now feel much more confident about the controls on my camera that I hope to get out more with it and explore its capabilities."

We're constantly extending the reach of the course programme, to ensure that you can find a training course near you. To find your nearest venue, take a look at the Course Locations section. For 2020 we have added even more classroom venues, plus we are extending the reach of the practicals too!

Practical  Day Courses

Enjoy a practical day out with your EOS camera from £150. With small groups and plenty of individual attention from your tutor, you'll come on leaps and bounds with your photography.

Locations are carefully chosen for their photographic and learning opportunities. Groups sizes are kept to a maximum of only 5 or 6 people – giving you lots of tutor time.

As part of your course, you'll get access to a comprehensive pre-course video tutorial. An essential part of your day, this covers the basics of what you'll need to know on the course. Afterwards you'll get a set of course notes, too.
