PPractical course

ABILITY LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE & ABOVE

CAMERA SUITABILITY: All Canon EOS cameras

LOCATIONS: RHS Wisley (Surrey), RHS Harlow Carr (Yorkshire)

Learn how to capture the golden glow of an autumnal day on this seasonal course. Autumn is a beautiful time of year that offers us plentiful photographic opportunities – from wide shots to the detail, from patterns to textures, from still life to abstract.

This one-day practical event runs for a brief window in the season (late October/early November) so you can make the most of the splendid colours. Whatever the weather throws at us, you’ll learn how to make the most of the available light and how to use ISO as your key exposure control when it matters.

Lenses make a big difference to your results and composition strategies – learn how to make the right lens selection for the look you want to create.

In addition to composition, lighting is an important consideration to make your images interesting and showcasing nature’s subjects. You’ll learn how to take advantage of the light to enhance the colours, and what settings to choose on your camera to bring those rich colours to life.

RHS gardens are the number one choice for this course, and with subjects and colours aplenty at these venues, you’ll come away from the day not only with images to treasure, but the know-how and settings you need to recreate autumn’s magic on your own.

For the ultimate learning experience, groups are kept small on this course. You be one of five EOS photographers (maximum) on the day. And, because we know the Canon EOS system inside out, you’ll be given relevant and tailored instruction on your EOS camera, whichever model you own.
