Once you’ve learnt the basics on one of our Beginner courses, you can move onto some of the more sophisticated and powerful features on your Canon EOS camera.

During this day you will delve deeper into your EOS camera’s settings and controls. After recapping how the semi-automated Creative modes of P, Av and Tv work, we’ll move onto Manual and Bulb modes for full creative control over your Canon camera.

Next you’ll find out how to control ISO  and how higher ISO settings can be used to your advantage in certain situations. You’ll also learn about metering – the different modes, when to use each one and how the metering system links into the focusing.

Canon has a number of useful preset features, like Picture Styles and white balance. Then there’s clever in-camera processing like Auto Lighting Optimizer (ALO) and Noise reduction functions. Learn what these do and how the settings your EOS camera applies automatically will enhance your images in the right scenarios.

You’ll also get started with the focusing system on your camera – which AF modes and area types to use for different subjects.

This is a content-rich class and one where you’re really start to delve deeper into more advanced and creative functions. Therefore, to make the most of the day we strongly recommend that you have already attended either EOS for Beginners or a practical Get off Auto course – there will only be a very brief recap of the basics before we dive into the real nitty gritty.

At the end of the course you will have explored the vast potential of your EOS camera and you’ll be confident at handling and setting up your camera in varied shooting conditions.

As part of your course you will receive a link to an online video tutorial. This 30-minute tutorial covers essential information you need to cover prior to attending this workshop, so you can gain maximum benefit from your tutor's instruction on the day. You will also get a comprehensive handout at the start of the class, with space for notes, which is yours to take away.
