LOCATIONS: Oxford (Tackley), Canon HQ (Surrey), Elstree (North London), York (central), Trentham (Stoke-on-Trent)

When it comes to getting creative with your photography, there’s a broad range of potential subjects out there waiting to be captured. However, different subjects bring different challenges and each needs its own approach, especially when it comes to camera settings. Then there’s the desire to translate the effect you want to achieve into the final image, the composition, making your subject stand out…

Too much to think about? Then try this one-day workshop for a simplified approach to getting the shots you want.

We’ll share some tried and tested recipes with you for getting great results every time.

You’ll learn how to successfully shoot challenging yet creative subjects. You’ll take away our formula for success – ESP – and how to visualise the image you want, how to choose the right settings and how to end up with the best possible result. Not only that, you’ll also find out why these settings are appropriate and how to adjust them for a range of light levels.

Of course, you want your images to be as sharp as possible, so you’ll learn about choosing the right focusing settings for both static and moving subjects, plus the merits of shooting either handheld or on a tripod, particularly in low light levels.

Throughout the day, we’ll explore a variety of subjects, such as water, action, sunsets, portraits, close-ups, animals in captivity and much more besides. We’ll look at the creative use of settings like shutter speeds and tools such as lenses and other camera accessories  lenses.

As part of your course, you’ll also get access to a video tutorial recapping the basic terms used in photography, ideal as a refresher before you attend. This will remain available to you afterwards too, so you can go back and refresh your skills any time.

By the end, you’ll come away with recipes for successful subject-let shooting and plenty of inspiration to give your photography that creative edge.
