Course bookings – Coronavirus outbreak
Advice and precautions

Updated 15 June 2020

As England starts slowly and tentatively reopening, we're carefully planning what we can also do to restart.

There are still a huge number of unknowns at present, and this uncertainty makes it incredibly difficult to plan with any great accuracy. These uncertainties and issues include:

• classroom venues (hotels) which are not yet open, and have no set date for reopening

• practical venues which are not yet open, with no set date for reopening

• practical venues which are open, but have restricted visitor numbers

• how to overcome the very personal and tailored nature of our courses with social distancing measures in place

• whether larger classrooms are available elsewhere that would enable more distance between desks (once meetings indoors are permissable again)

• how to safely provide lunches and refreshments (classroom) or whether to switch to packed lunches

• ensuring that toilet facilities can be cleaned regularly

• that many of you are either still shielding and/or reluctant to mix in groups.

What we're doing to work towards courses starting again:

• liaising closely with our venues and partners, to help inform our own strategy based on their own measures

• planning detailed risk assessments to ensure our tutors and customers are safe

• looking at alternative venues

• following government guidelines and updates closely

At present, dates from September 2020 onwards are bookable on the website and via phone. This is reviewed every two weeks.

Our overriding responsibility is to you, your fellow photographers as well as to our tutors – to keep you and your families safe.

Additionally, because of the nature of our training courses – where there's inevitably close proximity between you and your tutor as you receive help with camera settings – it's difficult to envisage how social distancing can be implemented whilst still delivering the level of training and personalised tuition that we pride ourselves on.

We are constantly reviewing the situation, as well as the current Government advice and restrictions.

Existing bookings

As and when we do start running our courses again, anyone who has a booking on hold will get priority and will have first refusal on any new dates or venues.

New bookings

If you decide to book onto a course later on in the year, we have suspended our existing cancellation and transfer policy until further notice, to ensure that everyone has maximum flexibility in these uncertain times.

As always, we advise that you do not book accommodation or make travel arrangements until the course is confirmed as going ahead.
